Lost in Lijiang and Tiger Leaping Gorge - Day 39 - 42

Took a sleeper bus from Kunming to Lijiang four days ago. The bus ride is definitely cathergorized under the 'it was an interesting experience' -cathegory. I think we all prefer trains.

The first thing we did in Lijiang was get lost. And that's what we've been doing ever since, because the old town, where our hostel, Mama Naxi's is located, is a maze of cute old houses, narrow cobble stoned paths, bridges and canals. A bit tuoristy, but really charming, especially at night.
And, somehow you always find your way in the end, although I've spent hours walking around old town alone without a map or adress (to show the locals, it's not like there would be any streetsigns), trying to find my way back to Mama's.
Mama and Baba take good care of us though, and it feels like being at home.

Day 40 and 41 we spent hiking in Tiger Leaping Gorge with Cian (American, although pretending to be Irish, cinsidering the name). Down here in the village it's been really cold (around 3-14 degrees) but up in the mountains it got really hot when the sun was shining. We couldn't have wished for better weather, and of course the view over Jade Snow Mountain was rather impressing as well.
Slept at the 'Half way Guest House', which we strongly recommend, if just for the view from the bathroom. Standing on the balcony from our dorm, watching the starlit sky wasn't too bad either.

In a couple of hours we'll jump on another sleeper bus, this one taking us all the way to the south of Yunnan, to Jinghong. Since we only have 6 days left before our visa runs out, we figured we better get a move on, and we wouldn't mind if it got a bit warmer as well... we are not looking forward to spending 15 hours on a bus though.
